Our names are Dave and Theresa. We met in college working at an Olive Garden restaurant as a bus boy and a hostess. We both worked our way through college, and were the first to go to college in both of our families. When we met, we had an instant connection, and were engaged three months after meeting. We were married a year later, and have been happily married for 16 years. We were married young, but have learned through the years how to work together as a team, and how to communicate to each other. We try to make each other feel appreciated and still do special things for one another, like write poems for each other, or buy little gifts for no reason. We have always been happy together.
We did not try to have children right away because we had so much college debt and we lived in a small apartment. After we bought our first house and paid off our college loans, we discovered that we could not have children. We were devastated. The thing we wanted most together, a family, we could not have. We both knew that we could not live without children and a family of our own, so we began the adoption process. We were so excited. Ten months after we began the process, we were chosen by birth parents to be the parents of a baby boy born close to our home town. We were ecstatic. After thirteen years of marriage we were finally going to be starting our family.
The day we picked up our son Joseph was the happiest day of our lives. We never knew we could love someone so much. We learned that there is no greater love than a parent’s love for a child. We both feel like our lives began the day we got Joseph, and each day, each moment with him, is so special, watching him grow before our eyes. It is such a privilege, such a gift, to be a parent.
We have so much fun being parents. We go to festivals, theme parks, nature centers, children’s museums, anything and everything that is fun to do. We exercise together as a family, go hiking, do one mile fun runs together, pray together and decorate the house for every holiday. David has a great job in management that allows me to be a stay home Mom and I treasure every moment. Joseph and I read, play games, bake, and sing songs together. We go to play groups, a music class, little gym class, and I even started an adoption group so Joseph would have a group of friends that were all also adopted.
David, Joseph and I, have so much fun together, and such a wonderful life. We are so blessed. We would like to share this life with another child, to have that privilege to be the parent of another child. Our son Joseph turned four this December, and we have always wanted more than one child. Joseph is very excited to have a sibling.
As we said before, we know this must be one of the hardest decisions of your life. If you choose us, we would love your child beyond belief. We would do everything in our power to give your child the most loving, fun, stable, and caring home. We would nurture your child’s talents, teach them to have faith in God, and give them the opportunity to live their dreams. We would be so happy, and so honored to be the parents of your child. Your child would be so appreciated and loved by our entire family. We can't thank you enough for taking the time to read this and for considering us. We hope we get a chance to talk with you.
Blessings, Theresa and Dave
